*Sean “Diddy” Combs is making headlines once again as he puts his lavish Los Angeles mansion on the market for a staggering $70 million, just four months after the estate was raided by the Department of Homeland Security in connection with a federal sex trafficking case. The news, first reported by TMZ, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world and beyond.
The Bad Boy Records founder acquired the European-style estate in LA’s prestigious Holmby Hills neighborhood in 2014 for $40 million. The sprawling mansion covers an impressive 17,000 square feet and features 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. In addition, the property boasts a 3,000-square-foot guesthouse, a separate spa house complete with a steam room, massage room, and beauty salon, as well as a gym, wine room, and an underwater swimming tunnel leading to a grotto, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The federal raid on Diddy’s estate was first observed by FOX 11, which had SkyFOX flying over as Homeland Security conducted their investigation. Ground crews from FOX 11 quickly learned that the mansion was registered to Bad Boys Films, a division of Bad Boy Entertainment, along with one of Diddy’s daughters. Homeland Security expert Hal Kempferm explained to FOX 11 that the agents were searching for evidence such as laptops and flash drives that could possibly link Combs to recent sex trafficking allegations.
In the aftermath of the raid, Diddy publicly criticized the authorities for what he described as “excessive force” used against his sons and employees during the operation. The raids also targeted his Miami home. These developments have reportedly influenced Diddy’s decision to sever all ties with Los Angeles; although he was last seen in West Hollywood three weeks ago, he has primarily been residing at his Miami property since then.
Adding to the controversy, surveillance footage surfaced a month ago depicting an incident from 2016 in which Diddy assaulted his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a Century City hotel. The video, aired by CNN, shows Diddy throwing Ventura to the ground before kicking and dragging her by her sweatshirt, all while dressed in a towel. Following the release of this video, Diddy issued an apology on Instagram, expressing regret over his actions during that disturbing episode.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” he shared in the video. “I was f**ed up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable.”
Amid the legal and personal controversies, Diddy seems intent on moving forward by cutting ties with past associations and real estate in Los Angeles. The listing of his Holmby Hills estate at $70 million not only marks a significant real estate move but also signifies a tumultuous chapter in his life that he’s perhaps looking to leave behind as he seeks stability and new beginnings in Miami.
