The 59-year-old “We’re Blessed” singer shared that at the time the video was posted, he had been in quarantine for five days after his test returned positive.

“I’m a mask wearer but I let it down — I let my guard down one place,” he said. Adding that two additional family members contracted coronavirus and one was rushed to the hospital but is out now and “recuperating.”

Although Hammond believes “the rough weekend was last weekend,” his primary doctor is keeping him monitored and has three doctors on speed dial to answer questions.

After addressing that he lost several friends at the hands of COVID-19, he reassured fans that there should be no cause for concern by stating “I still have good hope…. Feeling pretty good every day.”

The Detroit native is looking at the positive side of his diagnosis; “The good thing is if this happened last year on the Commissioned tour, I probably wouldn’t have made it because I was really sick.”

Hammond signed off by sharing a testimony:

“We stand on the word that we are overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony helps other people. So, wear your mask family. Be diligent and vigilant because it’s out there. With everything that’s out here, we’ve got to take care of ourselves.”
