Grambling State is seeking a new person to head its athletics department.
On Wednesday, the school announced that it has secured the services of TurnkeyZRG, a sports, entertainment, and media recruiting firm to assist in the search.
“The firm will assist GSU in a variety of areas, but most notably, identifying high-quality candidates, handling the logistics associated with the application and evaluation process, and performing background checks on potential candidates,” the school said in a statement.

Dr. David Ponton, who has served as the institution’s Vice President of Athletics since December 2018, will be reassigned as Special Assistant to the President for Student Success effective May 1.
The announcement to replace Ponton comes on the heels of the football team’s season-ending 49-7 loss to Southern on Saturday and concludes a truncated season with the G-Men finishing with an 0-4 record.
During the season, Grambling head coach Broderick Fobbs endured the resignation of offensive coordinator Mark Orlando, the removal of quarterback coach Kendrick Nord and the announcement of season-starting quarterback Geremy Hickbottom entering the NCAA transfer portal.
