Grambling State loses two key players to NCAA transfer portal

Valuable pieces to Grambling State’s offensive and defensive units have entered the transfer portal.

Cory Diaz of the Monroe News-Star reported Wednesday that senior offensive guard Will Waddell and senior defensive back Damien Crumtie will seek to finish out their collegiate careers elsewhere.

It has also been reported that Grambling running back Tiger Gleesin also announced his intentions to enter the portal.

Waddell, a First Team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference selection, explained on Twitter his decision.

“These four years have flown by and within these years, I have made memories that will last a lifetime,” Waddell wrote. “I would like to thank (Grambling State head coach Broderick) Fobbs and (offensive line coach Reggie) Nelson for teaching me great leadership and inspiring me to want greater for myself and my family.

“But I do believe that what’s for me is after graduating this past spring I have decided to enter the transfer portal and will play as a graduate transfer. Grambling will forever hold a special place in my heart.”

“I want to thank my family for their love and help throughout my journey, I would not be where I am today with them,” Crumitie wrote.

“With talks and consideration with family and friends, I will be entering the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer. Forever grateful for my time here at Grambling.”
