Grambling State’s Ivy Smith Jr. signs with agency to pursue professional career

Grambling State’s Ivy Smith Jr. may have completed his collegiate basketball career as a Tiger, but he still plans to continue playing the game he loves professionally.

The 2019-20 first team All-SWAC point guard, who led the conference in assists and ranked 10th in scoring, announced Tuesday his intent to sign with Inception Sports via Twitter.

“If only you knew my story you would understand how grateful I am to sign to an agency and be able to start playing basketball professionally!!” he said. “Been my dream since the day I touched a ball. I will be signing with @inceptionsports to represent me and continue my basketball career!”

According to its website, Inception Sports “is a full-service sports agency and marketing company” led by president and CEO Chet Ervin.

Named second-team All-America by BOXTOROW in March, Smith was also named a Louisiana Sports Writers Association honorable mention on April 15.
