Has Jackson State left Nike for Under Armour? ‘Coach Prime’ has the answer

Upon the Sept. 21 announcement of Deion Sanders becoming the new head football coach at Jackson State, one question remained unanswered: Will JSU stay with Nike as the school’s apparel supplier or move to Under Armour?

Sanders may have provided the answer to that question in a video he published on Twitter Friday.

“Did you know we UA now? We are UA now. Thee, I love baby,” Sanders said in the video while showing off some newly created Jackson State apparel donning the Under Armour logo he received from a licensed vendor.

There has been no official announcement from Jackson State regarding a move to the Under Armor brand. However, Ashley Robinson, the university’s athletic director, didn’t deny the possibility of such a move when asked.

“We’re going to do the best deal that makes sense for Jackson State University,” Robinson said during an interview Thursday with Inside the HBCU Sports Lab. “At this present time, today, we are Nike. That could change tomorrow. That could change Thursday. That could change Friday.”

Jackson State entered a five-year partnership with Nike through BSN Sports in September 2018.

Sanders had a personal endorsement with Under Armour prior to being named JSU’s head coach.
