Howard, Morehouse to resume rivalry at HBCUNY Classic

Morehouse visited Howard University’s campus for a renewal of their rivalry in 2023. This coming season, the two teams will meet again, but on neutral ground.

According to a report by Kyle T. Mosley of HBCU Legends, The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion Bison and the Maroon Tigers will meet on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the third annual HBCUNY Classic at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, with the time and TV/streaming details yet to be determined.

The Bison defeated Morehouse 65-19 at Greene Stadium on September 9, part of a 6-6 season that included Howard’s first MEAC championship since 1993 and a trip to the Cricket Celebration Bowl, where they fell short to Southwestern Athletic Conference champion Florida A&M 30-26.

The Maroon Tigers finished 1-9 in their only season under alumnus Gerard Wilcher, who was fired just eight months after being hired as head coach. He was replaced by former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver and one-time Savannah State offensive coordinator Terence Mathis.
