*John David Washington is reportedly being considered to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang The Conqueror.
The news comes from Daniel Richtman, the same Hollywood insider who recently claimed Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo tops the list of frontrunners to take over the Kang role, Complex reports.
As we reported, Marvel dropped Majors as Kang the Conqueror after he was found guilty in December 2023 of assault and harassment involving his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. He appeared as the supervillain in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in Feb. 2023 and the “Loki” series on Disney+.
Complex reports that Kang is slated to appear in 2026’s “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” titled “Avengers 5,” according to Hollywood Reporter.
“When it comes to Marvel and DC, I’m like, ‘I think I’m ready now.’ I’m worked out, fit, I think I want to play a villain,” Coleman told AwardsWatch. “I just want to be the villain. I don’t want to be the good guy. I actually want to do some really nasty, dirty work.”
Meanwhile, you can catch Domingo as “Rustin,” now streaming on Netflix. The movie tells the story of charismatic, gay, civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, who overcame an onslaught of obstacles and altered the course of American history by organizing the 1963 March on Washington.
Domingo stars alongside Chris Rock as activist Roy Wilkins; Glynn Turman is A. Philip Randolph, and Audra McDonald portrays Ella Baker.
In related news, Domingo will direct and star in a biopic about legendary singer Nat King Cole.
According to Variety, the project is a movie musical from a script Domingo co-wrote. The film will also mark his feature-directing debut.
“I’ve been working on it quietly for a few years,” Domingo said during a Variety Awards Circuit Podcast episode. “It’s something I’m looking forward to putting together with some great partners.”
