The news comes hours after Sanders lamented on social media that no HBCU football players were selected during the 2021 NFL Draft.

It was the first time since 2009 that no player representing an HBCU was drafted.

“I witnessed a multitude of kids that we played against that were more than qualified to be drafted,” he said. “My prayers are that This won’t EVER happen again.”
