Jackson State-Prairie View game canceled due to COVID-19 issues

The season finale for Jackson State first-year head coach Deion Sanders will not happen after the Jackson State football program announced that Saturday’s game versus Prairie View has been canceled because of COVID-19 issues impacting the Tigers.

“Due to COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing within the Jackson State football program Saturday’s football game versus Prairie View A&M is canceled and will not be made up,” JSU stated in a news release Tuesday.

The cancelation marks the 10th SWAC game this spring to be impacted by COVID-19.

Jackson State finishes the spring season with a 4-3 overall record. Prairie View wraps up the year at 2-1 having three of its six scheduled games canceled due to the virus.
