Jackson State QB Quincy Casey enters transfer portal

Jackson State has lost another quarterback to the transfer portal.

Redshirt freshman Quincy Casey, who started one game during the shortened 2021 spring season, announced on Twitter that he has entered the NCAA transfer portal. The news was first reported by OFFSCRIPT.

“After much thought and prayer, and talking to my family, I have decided to enter my name in the transfer portal,” Quincy wrote. “I have 4 years of eligibility and look forward to my next opportunity.”

Casey’s future at Jackson State appeared promising after he threw 323 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-43 loss to Alabama A&M on April 10.

He was then named the starter for the season finale against Prairie View before the game was ultimately canceled because of COVID-19 issues within the JSU football program.

The departure comes weeks after former 4-star prospect Jalon Jones announced earlier this month that he was seeking options elsewhere after he was benched following the Tigers’ 34-13 loss to Southern on April 3.

Currently, Jackson State’s depth chart at quarterback features a trio of freshmen, including Greyson Thompson, Brandon Mallory, and highly-touted Shedeur Sanders, son of head coach Deion Sanders.
