Jackson State has separated itself from the rest of the SWAC.
The Tigers have established themselves as the class of the SWAC as they sit atop the conference with a 20-6 overall record and a 15-0 record within the league. JSU has stormed through the SWAC, winning by an average of 21.6 points per game, with only two of the victories coming by single digits and winning their last game.
On Saturday, the Tigers defeated Texas Southern by 50 points to clinch its fifth consecutive SWAC regular season crown.
The Tigers sustained excellence and dominance in league play appear to have gotten some national attention with Jackson State receiving a vote in the most recent Associated Press NCAA Division I Women’s Top 25 Poll.
The Tigers were among 12 unranked teams that received at least one vote in the poll. The others included Princeton (24), Michigan St (12), West Virginia (9), Mississippi (9), Duke (3), Columbia (3), North Carolina (3), Richmond (1), Kansas (1), Toledo (1), and Iowa St (1).
