*Janet Jackson was in talks to appear at last week’s Grammy Awards where she was to take home an award but those plans were canceled due to the fallout from “nipplegate” at Super Bowl 38.
The Grammys wanted to honor Jackson with the Global Impact Award during a pre-show event but she had scheduling conflicts. As TMZ reports, Jackson considered accepting the award during the main show, “but when Jackson sought some form of an apology for or acknowledgment of CBS blacklisting her after the infamous “nipplegate” incident, the talks collapsed,” the outlet writes.
The network received a ton of criticism from viewers when Jackson performed at Super Bowl XXVIII and Justin Timberlake ripped her top, revealing her breast. The Big Game was broadcast on CBS, and network CEO Les Moonves pulled Janet’s invite to the Grammys that year.
Per TMZ, “Our sources say Janet’s team and Grammy organizers began talking about ways CBS could either apologize or figure out a way to acknowledge how she was treated by the network, but things just got too complicated and talks ended.”

Lil Wayne ended up receiving the Global Impact award. During his acceptance speech, Weezy revealed that his mother asked him to give her a grandchild when he was only age 14.
As Yahoo reports, Wayne said his mother, Jacinda Carter, asked him for a grandchild so she wouldn’t be lonely while he was on the road as a young artist.
“I walked into my mama’s room when I was 14,” Wayne said. “She asked me for a kid because my dad was killed. And her son had just blew up and went on his first tour, and we did not know that b***h was going to be six months.
He continued, “When I came home she said, ‘Son, I can’t live in this house by myself. We’re going to have to figure something out.”
Wayne would ultimately have several kids with multiple women. He and Antonia Johnson welcomed their daughter, Reginae, when they were 16 years old. The two married in 2004 and called it quits two years later.
Wayne also has three sons with three other women: 14-year-old Dwayne Carter III whom the rapper shares with Shade 45 XM radio host Sarah Vivan. He is also father to 13-year-old Kameron Carter with actress Lauren London and 13-year-old Neal Carter with singer Nivea.
