Ja’Tyre Carter ‘is getting drafted’ says football talent evaluator after performance at Southern Pro Day

The Southern Jaguars are the latest HBCU to hold its Pro Day and it produced some great results from the prospects involved.

There were 13 NFL teams on hand to watch eight Southern prospects work out, including six offensive players.

One player teams had their eye on was offensive lineman Ja’Tyre Carter who was the only HBCU player to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine.

He improved his measurements across the board recording a 34.5-inch vertical and a 9-foot-3 broad jump.

His vertical jump would have been the highest recorded amongst all offensive linemen who took part in the NFL combine while he would have ranked in the top 10 in the broad jump.

Following the workout, veteran NFL scout and Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy tweeted that Carter is “getting drafted” after his performance.

Wide receiver Marquis McClain, who had an impressive performance in the HBCU Legacy Bowl, put forth a great showing in the pro day with a 4.59 40-yard dash time, a 39-inch vertical, and a 10-foot broad jump.

Of all the wide receivers in the NFL draft combine, McClain would have had the third-highest vertical.

Elsewhere, fellow receiver Jamar Washington had a 4.64 in the 40 and a 10-foot-2 broad jump while defensive back Jakoby Papillion also posted a 4.64 40 time in addition to a 35-inch vertical and a 9-foot broad jump.
