Kenya Moore's Controversial Halloween Costume Edited Out Of 'RHOA'

Bravo has re-edited a March 2021 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta featuring Kenya Moore dressed in a Native American headdress as a costume to a Halloween party hosted by co-star Falynn Guobadia.  Variety exclusively reports the news.

Moore initially defended wearing the costume, noting her Native American heritage. But during the Season 13 reunion special, she expressed remorse, saying she learned later that the costume is offensive. She also called out Drew Sidora for dressing in similar costume attire after Sidora’s criticism.

Sidora claimed the costume was worn at a family reunion where all of her family members were in attendance and celebrating a Native American custom. Photos that surfaced however showed Sidora in a nightclub.

A spokesperson for Bravo said the episode was edited shortly after it aired. Now, Moore is shown only minimally as a “warrior princess,” as she put it on the show. Previously, Bravo issued an apology online.

The new version of the episode is available on BravoTV.com, the Bravo app and on VOD. Instead of panning the camera to Moore, LaToya Ali, who is dressed as a mermaid, is shown. Various decorations and furniture within Guobadia’s home are also shown.

Porsha Williams and Drew Sidora both expressed their concerns with Moore’s costume during their separate confessional interviews. “Kenya is a Native American warrior,” Williams said to a producer in her confessional. “I thought we weren’t doing that no more. Like, I knew that this girl was crazy, but add lame to the list. Add whack to the list.”

Sidora shared similar sentiments: “Kenya’s Native American costume is super problematic. But I’m not trying to ruffle no feathers before this girls’ trip.” Sidora accused Moore of cultural appropriation.
