Kim Kardashian is thinking of an exit plan.
Amid reports of a pending divorce, the beauty mogul is reportedly moving forward with plans to end her six-year marriage to Kanye West. According to Us Weekly, Kim has sought the guidance of “her financial advisors to figure out an exit plan that would be best for her whole family.”
The report also claims that Kim “began talks” with high-profile divorce attorney Laura Wasser last July to discuss a strategy following the couple’s marital woes.
“Kim has had all of her and Kanye’s financials and properties ready to be split, it’s a very fair deal for everyone,” the source tells Us. “Kim has all of her assets and financials ready for when she decides to file officially. Friends thought she was going to file in September, but she’s holding out. That does not mean that everything behind the scenes is already done.”
The couple, who shares four children–North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm–has “completely” stopped going to marriage counseling, a sign that divorce could be imminent.
“They are just not on the same page when it comes to their future as a family,” an insider told PEOPLE earlier this month. “And Kim is okay with it.”
Their relationship took a turn after Kanye’s presidential campaign rally in South Carolina last July, when he claimed that the couple thought about aborting their daughter North. “The comments about North and the abortion were the final confirmation. She will protect the children first, always,” said an insider.
Their issues continued when Kanye showed up late to his wife’s birthday on a private island in October and was noticeably absent from the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve celebration. For Christmas, Kanye reportedly bought his wife five 2021 Mercedes-Maybach SUVs priced at just under $200,000 each, while Kim gave Yeezy several James Turrell art pieces worth over $1 million.
But that apparently wasn’t enough to save their marriage. “They have both been living separate lives for many months now. … Kanye isn’t as focused and doesn’t live in the real world,” reports Us. “Their world views no longer line up.”
Kim’s inner circle is “skeptical” that she’ll actually pull the plug, but think that divorce could be what’s best for the couple. “While they have a multitude of problems, friends on both sides think there is a chance this separation could give them a fresh start,” the source said.
