Langston University Department of Athletics announced that the school’s head softball coach Hosea Bell passed away on Friday at the age of 57.
An alum of Tabor College Class of 1987, Bell began his head coaching career in 1999 as the head softball coach of Sterling college.
While at Sterling, he also served as an assistant football coach as well as the head men’s women’s track and field coach.
He served as Sterling’s softball coach for 15 years before moving on to the Langston Lions in 2013. In his eight seasons with the team, he held a 110-141-1 overall record coaching 18 different All-Conference players including 14 first-team selections.
Bell not only coached great players on the diamond but great players in the classroom as he has had 44 players be chosen as a Sooner Athletic Conference All-Academic selection since 2017.
Bell is survived by his wife Pam, nine children, Alyssa Bell, LaChelle Bryant, Ashli Bell, Hosea Trevonte Bell, Quentin Bell, Chrystopher Bell, Lyric Bell, Kendrick Bell, Ariana Bell, and grandchild Meila Bryant.
