It was a full-circle moment for actress Lela Rochon when her daughter with her husband and famed director, Antoine Fuqua, wore Rochon’s Waiting to Exhale premiere dress to her prom.
Asia Fuqua not only turned heads at her senior prom over the weekend, the senior sent fans of her mother into a frenzy on social media whenever it was discovered that the stunning red number Fuqua wore belonged to her mother.
In a series of photos uploaded, including a side-by-side of her daughter and herself, Rochon wrote, “Yes I saved the dress❤️… wasn’t sure why but now I know #vintage@adamchristophermakeup ⭐️”
Fans and fellow celebs took Rochon’s page celebrating the seemingly nostalgic moment. Vivica A Fox wrote, “OMG!! FABULOUS”. Tasha Smith followed with, “Gorgeous sis!!!” Naturi Naughton, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Holly Robinson Peete and several others also left messages under the photo.
Rochon starred in Waiting to Exhale with Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston, and Loretta Devine as they played four close friends navigating the woes of their relationships with their boyfriends, husbands and ex-lovers.
One of the most recognizable and notable Black actresses in history, Rochon also starred in Harlem Nights, Boomerang, and Why Do Fools Fall In Love. She recently had a key recurring role on OWN’s David Makes Man.
