*Lil Wayne may not be performing at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, but he’s channeling his love for sports into a new role as a weekly guest on “NFL GameDay Morning” on the NFL Network.

Starting November 17, the New Orleans rapper will join a lineup of hosts, including Kurt Warner, Steve Mariucci, Gerald McCoy, Ian Rapoport, Cynthia Frelund, Colleen Wolfe, and Kyle Brandt, Cassius Life reports. The announcement was made during the Giants vs. Panthers game in Munich, with the coverage including a throwback video of the hip-hop star running out with the Green Bay Packers.

Wayne’s new gig follows disappointment from fans who felt he was snubbed for the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown, with Kendrick Lamar chosen instead. The Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans will go down on February 9, 2025. Rapper Master P has openly expressed that a local artist should have been the headliner for the show.

In a statement shared on social media, he wrote, “Salute to @kendricklamar for performing at the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX… well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the biggest songs right now,” he wrote on Instagram, All Hip Hop reported.

“As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native,” he added.

In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram on Sept. 13, Lil Wayne expressed disappointment at not being selected to headline the halftime show. As we reported earlier, he has long been vocal about his aspirations to perform at the sporting event.

“I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking,” Weezy shared. “That hurt. Hurt a lot,” he continued.

“It hurt a whole lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. And just automatically mentally putting myself in that position,” he shared.
