Kanye West freestyles for Forbes.
While opening up to the magazine about his bid for the White House, the presidential hopeful occasionally broke out into verse, delivering spontaneous raps on topics including President Trump, coronavirus, and even the O.J. Simpson trial.
Now Forbes has shared three freestyles from Ye’s “rambling” four-hour interview.
In the first freestyle, dubbed “This Is What the Covid’s Made,” the billionaire rapper reflects on the impact of the pandemic. “Try to keep us quiet, cause riots / This is what the COVID’s made,” raps Ye, who claims he had coronavirus in February.
In addition to name-checking his wife Kim Kardashian and her parents Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian, he takes a shot at Donald Trump. “How about we stop hiding in the bunkers and be a real man?” he asks.
In a second freestyle, titled “Thou Shalt Not Kill,” he addresses the O.J. Simpson trial. “Now I’m not saying if O.J. did it or O.J. did not… I do not know. But when I lived in my father’s house and I saw that verdict come, as a black person we felt that it was a victory.”
He also recites lyrics from his new single “Wash Us in the Blood” featuring Travis Scott. When the reporter asks if he’s against the death penalty, Ye responds, “Thou shall not kill.”
On the third freestyle, called “This Is Earth,” he raps about his drug addiction. “Look at all the perks / I was addicted to percs / Drug addiction, for the devil it works,” says Ye.
At the end, the reporter suggests that he has found his campaign song, to which he replies, “We got way more.”
