*Maxwell’s urban hang suite is returning to a watery setting for the second consecutive year. Vibe reports the entertainer’s Urban Hang Suite Cruise will take to the seas on the Norwegian Pearl from February 14-19, 2025.
The five-night trek, whose name is taken from Maxwell’s classic debut album, will kick off in Miami, with stops in the Cayman Islands and Jamaica.
The “Lifetime” vocalist will be on hand for two exclusive performances, in addition to special guests Anthony Hamilton, Marsha Ambrosius, Lalah Hathaway, Avery*Sunshine, Terrace Martin, Tye Tribbett, and more
The 2025 Urban Hang Suite Cruise will follow its sold-out inaugural outing, which took place earlier this year and included DJ sets, food and performances from Ledisi, Robert Glasper, Sabrina Claudio, Musiq Soulchild, Leela James, Gallant, and others, Vibe noted.
Next year’s lineup of DJ’s and chefs will be announced at a later date, as the Urban Hang Suite Cruise will take place after Maxwell’s 2024 The Serenade Tour.
The “Fortunate” hitmaker will hit the road with Jazmine Sullivan and October London for the 26-city excursion, which kicks off September 14 in Hollywood, FL before wrapping in Los Angeles on October 27.
News of the sophomore Urban Hang Suite Cruise comes amid reports of Maxwell releasing his long-awaited “blacksummers’NIGHT” album.
Chatting with Vibe about the forthcoming release, Maxwell whetted the appetite of fans, labeling it as a “journey into vulnerability [that] just ties up the Trilogy in a way that represents eroticism in a very mature way.”
“I see a lot of eroticism happening […] If you want to write lyrics that are very graphic, do what you want to do. I don’t do that — I believe in romance,” he added.
