MEAC Football Players of the Week – Oct. 28




NORFOLK, Va., – North Carolina A&T State running back Jah-Maine Martin has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Martin’s teammate Jacob Roberts is the Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week and earning Offensive Lineman of the Week honors is North Carolina A&T State’s Marcus Pettiford. North Carolina Central’s Brandon Codrington has been named Specialist of the Week.

Martin (RB, 5-10, 214, r-Jr., Conway, S.C.) had three touchdowns and 138 yards rushing in only seven carries in Saturday’s dominant win over Howard. Martin averaged 19.7 yards per carry against the Bison, and he leads the nation in yards per carry while ranking second in rushing touchdowns.

Roberts (LB, 6-0, 218, Fr., Charlotte, N.C.) finished with a game-high 15 total tackles (10 solo) in his first Homecoming start for the Aggies. Roberts had six tackles for a loss of 19 yards and three sacks for a loss of 15 yards, while also holding Howard to just 58 yards passing in the win.

Pettiford (OL, 6-4, 286, Sr., Durham, N.C.) graded out at 91 percent and spearheaded an Aggies offense that amassed 574 yards of total offense, including 321 yards rushing, against Howard. He didn’t yield any sacks and recorded two pancake blocks with no penalties.

Codrington (PR, 5-9, 170, Fr., Raleigh, N.C.) returned a kickoff 75 yards for the game-winning touchdown after Delaware State tied the score with 50 seconds remaining in regulation. He returned three kickoffs for 107 yards and three punts for 12 yards. Codrington also had a touchdown-saving tackle for the Eagles in the win over Delaware State.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Devin James (B-CU) finished with 12 total tackles and his third game with double-digit tackles.

Jimmie Robinson (B-CU) returned three kickoffs for 94 yards and blocked a South Carolina State fourth-quarter field goal.

Akevious Williams (B-CU) recorded his second straight game with over 250 yards and two touchdowns by going 12-for-27 passing for 262 yards total.

Chris Faddoul (FAMU) punted the ball four times for 198 yards, averaging 49.5 yards per punt. He had two punts inside the 20-yard line and one touchback.

Rasean McKay (FAMU) in his first career start he was 25 of 35 passing for 246 yards and a touchdown.

Elijah Richardson (FAMU) led the Rattlers defense with 10 tackles, including six solo stops and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Manasseh Bailey (MSU) had six catches for 90 in the Bears home game against Florida A&M.

Noel Ruiz (NCAT) went 3-for-3 on field goals, including a 48-yarder. He was also 6-for-7 in extra points to give him 15 points in the Aggies’ win.

Johnell Brown (SCSU) led a Bulldogs defense that forced six sacks against one of the top-ranked offenses in the conference.

LaBron Morris (SCSU) had 108 yards on 21 carries in the Bulldogs’ win over Bethune-Cookman.
