*Meagan Good has found herself navigating a whirlwind of public scrutiny surrounding her relationship with actor Jonathan Majors. The beloved actress, known for her standout role in the 1997 film Eve’s Bayou, firmly asserts that she isn’t dating Majors for monetary reasons. “I don’t need to be paid,” Good states, confidently dismissing the rumors.

Good places significant importance on her intentions being understood clearly.

“If you think I’m doing something for a reason that I didn’t do it for, that actually bothers me because I feel misunderstood,” she explains.

This underlying sentiment drives her to confront public misconceptions head-on.

Good and Majors’ relationship began away from the limelight, intended to be a private matter. This changed in May 2023, when they were spotted on a movie date in downtown Los Angeles. Their relationship’s sudden public exposure was particularly sensitive as it came just two months after Majors had been arrested on charges of assaulting his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Given the gravity of the situation, studios quickly distanced themselves from Majors, casting a shadow over his once-promising career. Yet, through it all, Good stood by him, earning public comparisons to the steadfast support of Coretta Scott King.

Initially, Majors wanted to keep their budding romance away from the public eye to shield Good from backlash. However, Good recognized the futility of hiding their relationship. “At a certain point, we can’t hide it,” she acknowledges. The news of their relationship sent shockwaves through Good’s fan base, many of whom had watched her grow from a child star to a successful actress over the years.

Fans speculated wildly about the nature of their relationship, with theories ranging from it being a PR stunt to Good being paid to be with Majors. Good methodically debunks these assumptions.

“I’ve been working my entire life. I’ve been taking care of my family since I was a teenager. I don’t need to be paid. The little pride in me thinks, ‘Y’all crazy as hell,’” she asserts in an interview with the Washington Post.

It’s not just the misconceptions about her motives that irk Good, but also the harsh judgments cast on Majors.

“It probably bothers me more because of the way I know him and because of the things that I know,” she says, although she refrains from going into specifics.

Despite the intense public scrutiny and the challenging circumstances, Good believes that the ordeal has only strengthened their relationship.

“We got all that upfront. So it’s at that point where you can handle anything,” she notes. Good’s belief that “everything happens for a reason” has been put to the test, but she remains steadfast.

“I know that Jonathan makes me very happy. And I love him very much and I feel very, very loved by him,” she shares. “I’m grateful for even the horrible things that we’ve experienced. I don’t wish that for him. But, for us, I think that it’s produced something different and special and that I’m thankful for.”

Good is particularly protective of Majors, who she feels is experiencing a form of culture shock in the relentless spotlight.

“I care more about protecting him because I’ve been in this business for 30 years. He’s been a working actor for nine years. This is a culture shock to him,” she explains.

Ultimately, Good feels grateful for the timing and the way their paths have crossed.

“I’m also thankful for the timing that God put us together, you know, and to be able to be there,” she reflects.

For Meagan Good, love, loyalty, and resilience are the cornerstones of her life and her relationship with Jonathan Majors. Through trials and public speculation, she’s shown that she’s not only enduring but thriving, all while steadfastly standing by her partner. “Because I’m solid,” she concludes, encapsulating her unyielding spirit and commitment.
