Offset Says He Sees Cardi B Winning an Oscar

Offset sees an Oscar in Cardi B’s future.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper makes her big-screen debut in Hustlers, which hit theaters Friday. The film is receiving strong reviews from fans and critics alike. During his appearance at Rihanna’s Diamond Ball on Thursday, Offset was asked about the Oscar buzz surrounding his wife’s movie.

“I haven’t heard that. That’s crazy,” he told “Entertainment Tonight.”

“Can you imagine, Cardi and Oscar?” said “ET” host Rachel Smith.

But the 27-year-old Migos rapper is optimistic about Cardi’s Oscar prospects. “I can see it,” he replied. “It’s on the way.”

In Hustlers, Cardi plays Diamond, a foul-mouthed dancer from the Bronx, who works at the same New York City club as Jennifer Lopez. Diamond teaches newcomer Destiny (Constance Wu) how to give a lap dance that will keep clients coming back, while always remaining in control.

While it was Cardi’s first time acting, the rapper didn’t need any advice. “She’s such a natural at what she does,” Lopez told Jimmy Fallon. “This was so suited to her. She really knew this world and I told her, ‘You just have to be the person that you were when I first started looking at you on Instagram. That girl, that’s the girl that we need.’ And she was like, ‘OK.’ She knew exactly what to do.”

The female-led film, which also stars Keke Palmer and Lizzo, pulled in $13.1 million at the Friday box office and is projected to close out its first weekend with $32 million, the best live-action opening of Lopez’s career, according to early returns.
