President Donald Trump Cancels Annual White House Press Holiday Party

This holiday season, the role of the Grinch will be played by Donald Trump.

President Trump has canceled the traditional White House holiday party for members of the press, according to a Fox News report published Thursday.

The annual party was considered a significant perk for those covering the White House as well as other reporters in Washington, anchors, and commentators.

Trump has regularly attacked certain media outlets for what he perceived as unfair reporting on his administration. He has often used the term, “fake news,” to describe the reporting.

The party’s cancellation marks the latest development Trump’s ongoing feud with the media. He has also bucked the press by declining to attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, a media awards event that had been attended by presidents since former President Nixon.

This year has marked multiple bitter moments in Trump’s attacks on the media, including the White House’s decision to revoke CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s press pass in November. Acosta’s press credentials were returned after the news network brought the case to court.

Trump doesn’t want to play nice or fake the funk with the media, so maybe it’s best to distance himself and let the year close out with no additional drama.
