Presented in partnership with Ford Motor Company
Rock The Bells and Ford Motor Company have teamed up for ‘Rock The Campus’ to champion the merger of hip-hop and higher education in support of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The new content campaign features platinum-selling rapper and HBCU alum 2 Chainz in a special performance at his alma mater, Alabama State University as part of Ford’s Accelerating Brilliance HBCU Tour this fall.
For his dynamic Homecoming performance that boasted a special appearance from The Marching Hornets of ASU, 2 Chainz and his emerging artist Skooly arrived on campus in an all-new 2024 Ford Mustang. To mark the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, ASU transformed their Department of Theatre Arts into a hip-hop themed time capsule.
Ford Motor Company has a long history of supporting HBCUs and their students. Programs include the innovative Ford FirstGen program that combines scholarship with mentoring and other resources to empower the success of first-generation HBCU students, scholarships through organizations such as UNCF and the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, and initiatives that support the infrastructure and mobility needs of HBCUs through the HBCU Mobility Challenge.
This year, Ford launched the Accelerating Brilliance HBCU Tour to celebrate the power of HBCUs to ignite creativity to shape a brighter future for all. Visiting Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, and Hampton University for their Homecoming celebrations, Ford donated $10,000 to each HBCU to support their students with essential academic resources, including textbooks, meal plans, and vital electronic devices for a total contribution of $30,000.
