‘Rap Sh!t’ Season 2 Gets Delayed Until November At Max Amid Strikes

The second season of the Issa Rae-produced series Rap Sh!t has moved back on Max’s schedule to account for the ongoing actors and writers strikes.

Rap Sh!t is set to debut Nov. 9 with two episodes. After the debut, the second season will air one episode weekly up until the season finale Dec. 21.

We hear that the idea is that by November the show’s creatives and stars would be able to celebrate and promote the season.

The series is loosely based on the City Girls, with City Girls members Yung Miami and JT co-executive producing. Aida Osman, KaMillion, Jonica Booth, RJ Cyler and Daniel Augustin star.

Rap Sh!t follows two Miami women who create a rap group and reignite their former friendship. According to the official description:

RAP SH!T follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna and Mia, who reunite to form a rap group. In their rise to fame, Shawna and Mia find themselves at a pivotal moment in their rap career as they are forced to decide if they will stay true to themselves or conform to the demands of the music industry.

Rae and showrunner Syreeta Singleton executive produce along with Montrel McKay for HOORAE. 3 Arts Entertainment’s Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry and Jim Kleverweis also executive produce. Co-executive producers with the City Girls include Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and HOORAE’s Sara Diya Rastogi and Jax Clark. Raedio, Rae’s audio content company, supervises the music for the series.
