Retired Major Neill Franklin to Receive NNPA 2020 National Leadership Award

Maj. Franklin had enjoyed a stellar 23-year career in the Maryland State Police when the Baltimore Police Department’s commissioner recruited him in 2000 to reconstruct and command the city’s Education and Training Section. Maj. Franklin also served as commander for the Education and Training Division and the Bureau of Drug and Criminal Enforcement in Baltimore.NNPA NEWSWIRE — “Although I have received a few awards during my lifetime for various things, I tend not to think much about them. But when I was informed of my nomination for the NNPA Leadership Award, I must say that this award brought pause and thought to my daily routine,” reflected Retired Major Neill Franklin. “Knowing the long history of our Black Press and the important role it has played benefitting the Black community, I must say that I felt extremely honored. There’s no greater feeling than to be honored by your very own community, especially such an important institution within it.”
