*After making the 2024 Summer Olympics way more interesting than it needed to be, Snoop Dogg already has a vision of what he would like to see when the event comes back to the States in 2028.
Revolt, per an interview the rapper did with “Entertainment Tonight,” detailed what Snoop jokingly has in mind if he was the one running things for the longstanding event.
According to the Doggfather, it comes down to shining a light on those not named Biles, Lyles, or any other major Olympian competing in the games.
“One thing I wanna do is have like the hood Olympics, ‘cause it’s a lot of homies from the hood that can run 10.2 [second 100-meter], that can high jump, throw the javelin, backflip, swim good, jump over gates and hurdles, you know what I’m saying?” Snoop humorously shared with “ET’s” Kevin Frasier while attending the premiere of Tyrese Gibson’s latest film “1992.”
Snoop continued: “I just wanna make it available for the athletes from the hood that didn’t make it, that probably had certain ramifications, but they still were athletic, and they still were good. So, I wanna bring that component, and hopefully, we’ll be able to, you know, make it make sense.” Only time will tell if Snoop, whom fans have dubbed an Olympic ambassador, can pull off the entertaining feat for the culture.”
Snoop’s unique assessment follows what many believe to be among the highlights of this year’s games with his memorable presence across the pond. In addition to providing recaps of the games as only he could, Revolt notes that Snoop spent his two-week adventure carrying the Olympic torch during the opening ceremony as well as trying his hand at several events.
The international situation served as a follow-up to when he and Kevin Hart generated laughs and headlines from their recaps on Peacock during the 2020 Olympic games. Now that 2024 event is history, all eyes are on Los Angeles in terms of what its plans are for the third time it hosts after doing so in 1932 and 1984.
“This was amazing, but I just feel like LA just gon’ be like a supersize version of what we just did,” Snoop told NBC Sports as the Paris Games wrapped in August.
The 2028 Summer Olympics is scheduled to take place July 14-30, 2028, with the Paralympics beginning on Aug. 15.
