'Son Of The South': Spike Lee-Produced, Civil Rights-Era Film Set For February

The first trailer for the Lucas Till and Cedric the Entertainer-starring film Son of the South has been released. The film will be released Feb. 5.

The film focuses on the grandson of a KKK member (Till) who breaks away from his family and joins the civil rights movement. Cedric the Entertainer will play Alabama civil rights leader Rev. Ralph Abernathy. The film will also star Lucy Hale, Julia Ormond and Lex Scott Davis and is based on Bob Zellner’s autobiography The Wrong Side of Murder Creek: A White Southerner in the Freedom Movement.

The film is directed by Barry Alexander Brown and written by Brown and Zellner. Spike Lee serves as executive producer. Shooting for the film took place in Montgomery, Alabama.
