Spike Lee Says He Open To Directing A Marvel Movie: 'To Me, DC Comics Was Always Corny'

Oscar-winner Spike Lee has directed such classics like Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing and She’s Gotta Have It. Now, Lee is back in awards conversation for his latest effort, Da 5 Bloods. But could we see Spike Lee direct a superhero film later down the line? The iconic filmmaker says…yes!

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lee revealed he always preferred Marvel comics over DC comics.

“I have nothing against Marvel. I grew up reading Spider-Man comic books,” he said. “To me, DC Comics was always corny.”

Lee revealed that he’d be open to directing a superhero movie if the right opportunity arises, laughing off the DC shade.

“I’m just saying. I was all about Marvel,” he said. “If the right opportunity comes across, I’m not campaigning for it, but I will give it consideration.”

Lee showed love to the Spider-Man franchise a few years ago, stating that he cast Laura Harrier as one of the leads for BlacKkKlansman after seeing her in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
