BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Southern’s Glendon McDaniel, along with Jackson State’s Keonte Hampton, Adrian Salazar, and Kymani Clarke were all named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Football Players of the Week in week eight of the season for their outstanding play the league announced on Monday.

Glendon McDaniel (6-2, 200, R-So., QB, Dothan, Ala.)
Harper threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns during Southern’s 28-21 win over Texas Southern in the State Fair Showdown in Dallas, Texas on Saturday. He was 17-for-26 passing with no interceptions. He had a long pass of 35 yards and also contributed 19 yards rushing the ball for the Jaguars.

Keonte Hampton (6-2, 225, So., LB, West Point, Miss.)
Hampton posted an impressive performance during the Tigers comeback win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday in Itta Bena, Miss. He tallied 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble as JSU defeated MVSU by a score of 31-28 in overtime.

Salazar was a clutch performer for the Jackson State Tigers in their thrilling 31-28 comeback win over in-state rival Mississippi Valley State on Saturday in Itta Bena, Miss. He converted a game-winning 34-yard field goal in OT to seal the win for the Tigers.

Jackson State freshman Kymani Clarke had a breakout performance on Saturday during the Tigers comeback win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday. He carried the ball for a game-high 171 yards including a key touchdown rush with 1:21 remaining in regulation to give the Tigers their first lead of the contest.
