*It’s been more than a year since headlines generated from Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes‘ then-secret romance.
The former “GMA3: What You Need to Know” fixtures are still together, but like many relationship goers, they have their share of arguments, or “hiccups” as they call them. Turns out, when Holmes and Robach have what they call “hiccups,” Holmes has his way of dealing with those situations. According to People, the “hiccups” come about once a week.
“I am really, really bad about this. I don’t scream, I don’t yell, I don’t do anything. I don’t name-call, I don’t get aggressive. Nothing, but I will check out,” the 46-year-old ex-TV co-host explained in the latest episode of he and Robach’s “Amy and T.J.“ podcast. “I don’t need you to say ‘I’m sorry.’ I don’t need you to help me. I have to work through it, and I’m trying to get better at doing it quicker.”
Although Holmes is working through his argument issues, apologies are something that strikes a nerve. Particularly when it comes to how long it takes for Robach to offer one.
“It drives me crazy. Why? Because ‘I’m sorry’ comes 24 hours late,” he continued. “It’s how you react in the moment that makes all the difference in the world because, in that moment, we have a chance to go this way or this way. And if you go that way, I’m out. I’m done. … I’m checked out for the day.”
Robach admits she isn’t fond of Holmes stewing for so long, according to People, which noted it usually takes around two days.
“It’s two days, at least,” Robach said. “I would rather have him yell at me than freeze me out for two days. … I’m like, I don’t know what to say, what to do, what he thinks.”
Despite the weekly “hiccups,” Holmes and Robach remain an item. So much so that the M-word came up in their podcast last week as they addressed the possibility of marriage.
“It’s under consideration,” the 50-year-old Robach said. “We did not enter this relationship for fun or for ‘Let’s see what happens.’ We entered this relationship because we intended on spending our lives together. So whether or not we have some sort of legal, you know, I don’t know, button on it.”
As the discussion continued, Robach admitted she and Holme were in no hurry to jump the broom.
“We both have two marriages under our belts and so it’s not something we’re racing to or rushing towards,” the 50-year-old former news fixture explained. “But there is something, I get it, it’s this thing that I can’t even explain why there’s this desire, but I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I can say that. It’s on the table. It’s on the table.”
With a four-year difference, Holmes mentioned the age issue is a factor in him wanting to tie the knot.
“I want to marry you, in part, because you’re 50 and I’m 46. And I’m very sick of introducing a 50-year-old woman as my girlfriend. That just sounds stupid,” he said.
“Thank you for noting the age difference,” Robach laughingly responded.
