Terrence Graves has an offensive coordinator. The new play-caller coached at Southern before

Southern University has secured an offensive coordinator who led an offense to a SWAC West championship.

Prairie View assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mark Frederick will call plays for the Jaguars.

For the past five seasons, Frederick was an assistant to then Prairie View-coach Eric Dooley from 2018 to 2021 and associate head coach and offensive coordinator for Bubba McDowell through last season.

In 2023, Prairie View averaged 19.6 points per game and ranked fourth in the SWAC in rushing yards and 176 yards passing per game.

He spent a season as the wide receivers coach at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, where he coached Willie Young and Cody Swain, both of whom were top five in the SWAC in both receiving yards and receptions per game.

From 2011 to 2016, Frederick was the offensive coordinator at Lincoln University of Missouri. His “Gumbo O” offensive attack broke numerous records during his tenure, including the most completions in a season (242), and passing yards in a season (2,842). In total, his offense broke nearly 30 school records in his time there.

This will mark Frederick’s third run at Southern. He was a running back and special teams coach from 2006 to 2009 and the assistant defensive line coach in 2010.

Frederick returned to Southern in 2017 to serve as the wide receivers coach.
