Test-Drive: 2024 Range Rover Velar Dynamic SE

Once I got behind the 2024 Range Rover Velar Dynamic SE wheel, I was immediately struck by the fusion of luxury and design. This latest iteration of the Velar produced a pristine performance and exhilarating test-drive experience.

For 2024, the Range Rover Velar received several updates to refine its impressive package. Among the notable changes are updated technology features, including an upgraded infotainment system with enhanced connectivity options and advanced driver-assistance features.

Additionally, the exterior has subtle refinements, accentuating its sleek and modern aesthetic. The elegant exterior includes a new grille design, updated lighting elements, a reworked rear bumper, and darker exterior trim. Inside, the Velar adopts the 11.4-inch curved touchscreen infotainment display from more expensive Land Rovers. The cabin is also quieter, thanks to a new active noise cancellation system. And premium materials now include wool and polyurethane upholstery.

Engine and Horsepower: The 2024 Velar Dynamic SE offers two engines – a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the base model that delivers a respectable 296 horsepower. The Dynamic SE I tested was powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine with 395 horsepower. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with Chrome Gearshift Paddles and an all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics. Keeping with the Land Rover’s off-road heritage, the Velar has a Terrain Response system with Selective Drive and an Off-Road mode.

Once my drive began, the 2024 Velar Dynamic SE’s adaptive suspension system effortlessly absorbed bumps and imperfections, providing a smooth and composed ride quality even on rough streets. The steering was responsive and precise, assuring confidence on highways and existing ramps. Overall, the Velar delivered a balanced level of comfort and performance.

Trim Levels and Prices: The Range Rover Velar lineup for 2024 consists of six trim levels that cater to a wide range of preferences and budgets. Starting with the base model P250 S ($62,775), P250 Dynamic SE ($64,875), Dynamic SE ($64,875), P400 Dynamic SE ($71,875), Dynamic HSE ($80,625), and the P400 Dynamic HSE ($86,070) MSRP, which includes 19-inch wheels, leather upholstery, a Meridian premium stereo system, and a panoramic moonroof.

Safety: The 2024 Velar has a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features to enhance confidence and peace of mind. From adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist to automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring, the Velar offers various technologies to prevent accidents and mitigate their severity.

Fuel Economy: The EPA rates the Velar’s inline-six at 19 city/25 highway mpg and the turbocharged four-cylinder at 22 city/26 highway mpg.
