The Pulse of Entertainment: Saxman Boney James Releases ‘All I Want is You’ Featuring October London | WATCH

Boney James Releases ‘All I Want is You’ f/October London
Concord Records’ Boney James releases new album ‘Slow Burn’.

*“I wrote the sax part…I heard vocals and October was on my list as a fresh new cat,” said four-time Grammy-nominated Boney Jones to me when I asked about his new single “All I Want Is You” featuring Death Row Records’ October London. “Turns out he is a fan of mine, an incredible talent.”

The “All I Want Is You” single is off Boney James’ 19th studio album “Slow Burn” (Concord Records) – out October 18, 2034. Also featured on the “Slow Burn” project are Marcus Miller (bass/composer), Cory Henry (organist/pianist), and Rick Braun (trumpet). Jairus Mozee (Anthony Hamilton) co-wrote and co-produced four tracks on the “Slow Burn” album with Boney James producing the entire project. The “Slow Burn” album offers 10 songs, eight are originals and two are cover songs of Herbie Hancock and Stanley Turrerntine.

“Actually, the title came from listening to songs I call ‘slow burns’,” said Boney when I asked about the meaning to the title of his album. “Songs with a slow intensity.”

Boney James, a multi-Gold selling musician, is currently on a tour promoting the new project. The “Slow Burn” Tour started in mid-July and ends at the end of Jan 2025. As I am typing this write-up on the album release Boney James’ tour is arriving in Clearwater, Florida for the Clearwater Jazz Holiday on October 17, 2024; Delaware is next for the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival on Oct. 19th; Alexandra, Virginia at The Birchmere on Oct. 20th is next; Annapolis, Maryland at Rams Head on Stage on Oct. 21st; Charleston, South Carolina at the Charleston Music Hall on Oct. 23rd; then back to Florida at the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville on Oct. 25th; Stockbridge, Georgia at the Stockbridge Amphitheatre on Oct. 26th follows, and it continues and ends Jan. 25th in Las Vegas, Nevada at The Smith Center for Performing Arts.

“I love it,” James said about touring, something he often does! “We are doing a lot of weekends in October and November. We are on a bus…that’s the best way to tour – I think.”

Aside from his solo projects Boney James has appeared in the works of Raheem DeVaughn, Faith Evans, George Benson, George Duke, Dwele, Al Jarreau, Philip Bailey, Anthony Hamilton, Jaheim, Eric Benet, Dave Hollister, Stokley Williams, Kenny Lattimore, Angie Stone and Lalah Hathaway.

I asked about his songwriting technique, and the #1 Billboard chart-topper said, “It’s a natural progress. There’s a period when I don’t feel creative. Then after a year or a year and a half, I get the desire to do something new.” www.BoneyJames.com
