Trey Songz Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Trey Songz is the latest celebrity to be diagnosed with coronavirus.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the R&B singer shared the news with his 12 million followers. Trey revealed that he gets tested periodically because he has been out in the streets protesting and attending food drives, and his latest test came back positive.

“Here with a very important message to let y’all know that I tested positive for COVID-19,” said the 35-year-old. “Of course I have a very young son at home so I get tested periodically and this time, unfortunately, it came back positive.”

He went on to state that 7.5 million people in the U.S. have contracted COVID-19 and that one out of 1,000 Black people have died from it. “I will be taking it seriously, I will be self-quarantining, I will be in my house until I see a negative sign.”

His grandfather passed away earlier this year and he believes it was due to complications with COVID. “I’ve always taken it serious,” Trey added.

He also urged his fans to take it seriously and wear a mask and wash their hands. “If you come in contact with COVID, please do the same,” he said. “Don’t be like the president.”

He ended by thanking his followers for their “support and love.”

On Friday, Trey is set to release his first album in over three years, Back Home, featuring appearances from Summer Walker, Davido, and Ty Dolla $ign.
