Trina Talks Grief, Miscarriage and New Memoir on ‘Tamron Hall’ Show | Video

*Trina got emotional while opening up about her mother’s death on “The Tamron Hall Show” this week.

The hip-hop star also shared the impact of losing her brother and niece while discussing her new memoir on the daytime talk show. During the segment, Trina shared intimate details about suffering a miscarriage while dating rapper Lil Wayne.

“The miscarriage, that was something I didn’t really never speak about even to my friends. Maybe two people knew. But, at that time I don’t even really understand what was going on. It was just a dark space… I was working so much.,” she explained, Vibe reports.

“I would cry on the road would cry on the tour bus, I would cry in the hotel, but I would have to hit the stage that night… it was like swept under the rug. You tuck it in… Behind that I was real young. I was hurt. I was sad inside.”

In another part of the conversation, Trina candidly discussed the profound impact that losing her family members had on her life.

Trina's memoir

“The loss of my brother is when life went dark for me,” she revealed through tears on the October 16 episode.

“To the world, they see it as, ‘you know happy smiling, just keep pushing,’ but for me, since 2013 until now. Since 2013 when I lost my brother. I just felt so disconnected from the world. I felt like I wanted my life not to be here. Not to even think that in 2019, I would lose my mom,” Trina added.

Per iHeart, Trina’s brother, Wilbrent “Gronk” Bain, was shot and killed during a confrontation with another man in 2013. Her mother, Vernessa “Nessa” Taylor, passed away in 2019 at the age of 62 after a battle with cancer. Two years ago, Trina’s 17-year-old niece, Toni “Baby Suga” Chester, was a victim of gun violence.

“My mom is the person I call every second of the day to annoy her for every little thing I want,” she said. “She’s never not been there for me. And when she wasn’t here, I just felt alone in the world. I have my sisters, my cousins, my family but it’s still my mom. It’s no certain time or way to get over the grief. I’ll never feel closure.”

Trina’s new memoir titled “Da Baddest” offers an intimate look at the rapper’s life, starting from her upbringing in Liberty City, Miami, where she was raised by her mother and stepfather. It was released earlier this month via Simon & Schuster. Buy it here.
