Trump Supports MAGA Caravan’s Ambush Of Biden Campaign Bus: ‘These Patriots Did Nothing Wrong’

After the FBI’s San Antonio office announced that it would investigate a video showing a caravan of Trump supporters surrounding a Biden campaign bus on Friday, President Donald Trump said he approved of the incident, which some have called an ambush.

Dozens of vehicles flying Trump and U.S. flags surrounding the Biden campaign bus at it traveled from San Antonio to Austin on the state’s last day of early voting. The Biden campaign, which made a last minute push in the red state after it became clear that it was in play, canceled the Austin event for safety reasons.

“These Trump supporters, many of whom were armed, surrounded the bus on the interstate and attempted to drive it off the road,” historian Dr. Eric Cervini tweeted. “They outnumbered police 50-1, and they ended up hitting a staffer’s car.”

The FBI’s San Antonio office tweeted on Sunday that it was “aware of the incident and investigating,” but that there would be “no further information available at this time.”

Trump, who tweeted, “I LOVE TEXAS!” when the video first began circulating, said that the MAGA caravan was not in the wrong.

“In my opinion, these patriots did nothing wrong,” the president tweeted. “Instead, the FBI & Justice should be investigating the terrorists, anarchists, and agitators of ANTIFA, who run around burning down our Democrat run cities and hurting our people!”

At a rally in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, later that night, Trump told the cheering crowd, “Did anyone see the pictures of the crazy bus surrounded by like hundreds of cars?! They’re all Trump flags all over the place…what a group!”

Tariq Thowfeek, Texas communications director for the Biden campaign, said in a statement, “Rather than engage in productive conversation about the drastically different visions that Joe Biden and Donald Trump have for our country, Trump supporters in Texas instead decided to put our staff, surrogates, supporters, and others in harm’s way.

“Our supporters will continue to organize their communities for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Democrats up and down the ballot,” Thowfeek continued. “And to the Texans who disrupted our events…we’ll see you on November 3rd.”
