UAPB star Zaay Green to return for 2024-25 season

Though Arkansas Pine-Bluff’s run in the SWAC women’s basketball tournament came to an unceremonious end, a revelation brought about in the postgame press conference brought good news to the Golden Lions.

All-SWAC guard Zaay Green announced that she would not enter the 2024 WNBA Draft and would stay at UAPB for her final year of eligibility.

“I’m going to stay and play for one more year in college so it should be interesting,” said Green when asked about her future.

Green transferred to Arkansas Pine-Bluff in the 2021 offseason following stints with the University of Tennessee and Texas A&M. This past season was Green’s first since missing the entire 2022-2023 season due to injury.

She averaged 16.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 2.3 steals in 28 games. Green was named to the All-SWAC Second Team for the second time in her career.

The Golden Lions were outmatched in the SWAC Tournament semifinals on Friday, losing 70-48 to regular season champion Jackson State.
