The first national television appearance for Travis Hunter in Jackson State colors was impressive.
The No. 1 high school recruit in the country, made an immediate impact on both sides of the ball during the Jackson State spring game televised Sunday on ESPNU.
Starting at wide receiver, Hunter took a hand-off from quarterback Shedeur Sanders and raced 20 yards for a first down. Several plays later, with the offense inside the 10-yard line, Hunter elevated over a defender for a spectacular two-handed touchdown catch.

On another Jackson State offensive series, the true freshman hauled in a Sanders toss and raced 80 yards for his second TD of the game.

Later in the first half of the game, Hunter — who is expected to play at cornerback this season — intercepted a pass on his first defensive snap. He then intercepted another pass in the endzone late in the game.
Said third-year head coach Deion Sanders about Hunter’s performance:
“He’s OK. I took him off offense because he (Hunter) showed us enough,” said Sanders. He’s a guy who wants it. He wants all of it. He works his butt off. He does not tire.”
