HBCU+ inks deal to broadcast Black College games in south Florida

Urban Edge Network has made a name for itself with its HBCU+ streaming network, providing coverage of various sporting events for HBCUs throughout the South.

That footprint will expand to South Florida as part of a deal announced Friday with Paramount Broadcasting Communications LLC, allowing HBCU+ to reach potentially more than 2 million homes in the area.

“It’s a great pleasure to be joining forces with Urban Edge Network to bring HBCU+ to south Florida, said Francois Leconte, PBC president and CEO Francois Leconte said in a statement. “This agreement with Urban Edge Network solidifies our position in the market as the largest provider of over-the-air sports programming in the region.”

“We are excited to partner with Paramount Broadcasting Communication to expand our footprint in broadcasting the ripe and talented South Florida region,” adds UEN Co-Founder and CEO Todd F. Brown. “This historic agreement makes us extremely eager to get started.”

HBCU+ will be broadcast on PBC’s WDFL Channel 18.2 in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region, which reaches over 800,000 households, and W11DH’s Channel 11.1 in Palm Beach/Fort Pierce, which accounts for 1.5 million viewers.
