North Carolina A&T runners qualify for NCAA track & field championships

The North Carolina A&T’s track & field team has fielded multiple NCAA national championship qualifiers.

Both sophomore Reheem Hayles (46.74) and junior Shemar Chambers (46.89) will have the chance to compete for the 400 meter dash title claimed by fellow Aggie Randolph Ross in each of the past two years.

Hayles and Chambers become the first runners from the Colonial Athletic Association to qualify for nationals in the 400 since 2013.

Both men also qualified for the 4×400 relay along with Caleb Jackson and Brandon Nya.

On the women’s side, both Paula Salmon and Jada Griffin qualified in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash, respectively.

It will be Salmon’s third straight appearance in the national championships, looking for her first top three finish after placing fourth last season.

The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships are set to begin on June 7 and will conclude on June 10.
